I'm recommending usage of raw devices for RAC databases, because they are proven technology to work and after DBAs get familiar with them, there are usually no problems. The paramount of the architecture of highly available systems is to keep it simple as much as possible. These systems are already complicated enough and otherwise needed clustered file system simply ads another not necessary software layer. That's another thing that can do something wrong, can be incompatible with software XY unless fix 156 is applied and parametr qqwaosidufoidao set to -6. So it is better to avoid it, because there is no real gain from it.
