Don't know; besides, the controlfile was autobacked up to a different file, D:\ORACLE\ORA92\DATABASE\C-3655888283-20060310-00. I restored the controlfile from the backup, being D:\ORACLE\ORA92\DATABASE\08HDKP2V_1_1 (as you did).

Did you actually try with controlfile autobackup off?
