Dear Master Sybrand,
I think you possibly have too much experience already and cannot put yourself into a beginner's position.
It's very easy to say "RTFM", but what if the manual actually consists of *** 23 *** Volumes (Oracle 8.1.7), some of them being 1000+ pages?
As a beginner, you sometimes even don't know where to look up.
BTW, in this "rename" case, I even myself learned something new. Actually, I didn't know the RENAME statement existed at all! I once needed it myself; I then looked at "ALTER TABLE", but found nothing, so I created a new table and copied the data.
So if a question is annoying you, because it's "too simple", then please either ignore it or at least write WHERE TO LOOK UP, instead of simply telling a beginner to go to hell (and wasting your own time, by the way)
Best Regards
Georg Scholz
