Found a couple of hits on Metalink stating you should check your oraInventory directory. It should contain a file called install.platform. This should contain lines similar to:

[Platform]

ID=<nn>

<nn> is 319 for IBM, 453 for Solaris, 2 for 32 bit HP and 59 (if I remember correctly) for 64-bit HP. I think the bit-age refers to Oracle software, not HP, which would mean you'll have to use 2. This is in compliance with the install.platform file I found (on my 64 bit HP, 32 bit Oracle installation).
