I also think Sybrand have sometimes been pretty harsh to beginners in the past (I have noticed an improvement lately). But in this particular case I think his answer was correct and not particulary impolite. He merely told the poster to look at the manual before posting a question.

About the manual being to big... Well maybe it is, but a simple search in Google's comp.databases.oracle.server archive for "rename a table" returns 921 records where the first answers the poster's question.
