Well, the standard advice is that the standby must be on the same platform
as the production database, and should be of the same Oracle release
versions (and subsequent patch sets). So your chances of pulling this off
are slim, to say the least.
However, given that these are all different flavours of Unix, you might just get away with it (I know NT to Unix is a definitie no-no). All I can suggest is a quick clone, and a manual transport of an archived log or two. If it works when you issue the 'recover standby database' command, you may be on to a winner. If not, you lose. Either way, it's worth just having a go, and seeing what happens.
Having said all that, I'd be intrigued to know why on Earth you'd want to implement a slightly dodgy hot standby! The thing is presumably there to take over in the event of disaster, or to act as a reasonably up-to-date reporting database. Not sure I'd want to compromise either goal by opting for a non-standard, unsupported methodology from the outset. Even if your little test works, there's no guarantee that it will always work, for all data types.
An idea worth testing, but then leaving well alone, I reckon.
