You don't mention which version of Oracle you're on, but if you're on
7.3.4 or
above then you should be able to export in DIRECT mode - this, at least for
the
export, can give much reduces run times. However, I don't think import in
DIRECT
mode is available until 8.
However you're going to do it it's going to take a long time. Depending on
the nature
of the data you may consider extracting to flat files and then use
sqlloader in DIRECT
mode. We've managed to load as much as 5Gb an hour using this technique.
Other things you could take a look at are UNRECOVERABLE loads, and running many loads in PARALLEL.
If index builds are a problem, these can also be done in parallel, and made UNRECOVERABLE. Good luck ! Received on Mon Jun 29 1998 - 14:12:18 CDT
