My condolences,
I'm doing the same thing, on the same platform/OS. I hope you have a service contract with Oracle. You'll be needing their help. I doubt that any Oracle customers were able to install and run this release "as-is".
Aside from that, it's a breeze, just follow the steps in the manual:)
--define ORACLE_BASE, and run orainst --run root.sh --make sure you define LD_LIBRARY_PATH to include /usr/lib andORACLE_HOME/lib (I put these in /etc/profile, along with ORACLE_SID ... there may be a better way)
I hope some of this info helps. Just call me "disgruntled".
