Hi Kellyn!
I should’ve known that you would have and awesome blogpost on this subject. Very good info!
The lead dev over the Oracle system who also has some experience with SQL is the person that requested we run this. The new SQL db will be on-prem and he says that it will be magic to ensure proper hardware sizing. I don’t necessarily believe this but was looking into it nonetheless. As you stated, increase in hardware/computing power doesn’t take care of poor SQL.
I’ll be passing along your blog to my director.
Thanks!

I’m not a big fan of HammerDB with Oracle… https://dbakevlar.com/2021/04/hammerdb-cli-for-oracle-on-azure/

Hi –
Anyone have experience using HammerDB for load testing an Oracle DB? We are looking to move an Oracle DB to MS SQL and want to run HammerDB on both to compare results.
I’ve been using the hammerdb.com<http://hammerdb.com/> docs and GitHub discussions to get the software and install on my Linux server. The installation was fine but when I try to run it, I end up with errors talking about the version of GLIBC. (wish8.6: /lib64/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.29' not found (required by ./lib/libtk8.6.so<http://libtk8.6.so/>))
I am a DBA and not a Linux admin so I’m hesitant to do anything that might affect the os (RHEL 8). The google search results warn against messing with GLIBC.
If anyone has used HammerDB for an Oracle DB on RHEL Linux, I would love to chat with you!
Thanks!
