The format of the password file changed with Oracle12. If you try to change the sys password, you should get a message saying just that.
Recreate the password file on the primary and copy to the standby.

I have upgraded a dataguard pair to oracle 19 . For some reason the password file doesn't seem to be working So the primary cannot connect to the standby. Has anyone got any tips on solving this please? Has something changed between 11 and 19 relating to remote password?
Will also do an SR for this but hoping this might ring a bell with someone!
