You can also get this message if the application times out or otherwise stops on its own. The database does not know why it stopped and throws this error which tends to indicate a human was there, but that is not necessarily true.

Try flushing shared pool and buffer cache then rerun it and see if that helps.

I'm running a dbms_stats.gather_schema_stats job thru a unix job and it runs for a while then fails with a

ORA-01013: user requested cancel of current operation

I didn't cancel the job so why is this stopping?
