Replication?

Hello DBAs

I am going to experiment with copying subset of data to another database and merging changes. In short I need the user to run a query against the master database, copy the resultset to their local database, do whatever they need and later merge the changes in their local DB to the master DB. It looks like replication is the technology to look into. Is there anything else in the big Oracle world?

Thanks

Witold
