hi, list friends:

I just installed Oracle 9i release 2 on redhat advanced server 2.1.Now i have some questions, and want to share my painful experience:
I created the database manually ,my experience:
1. in the second node, the following dir is not created as some other guys said: $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/audit, $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/log, $ORACLE_HOME/network/log, $ORACLE_HOME/oracm/log. I mannually created it before any maybe error appeared.
2. I did not hit any error during installation.I did not choose any other option i do not need, like advanced security, spatial etc. 3.
  1. It seems that without LVM, Linux can only support 16 partitions per disk.(3 primary partition, 1 extend partition. And you can get only 12 partitions from the extend partition). It is very difficult to get a big rac system installed. Is there really that kind of limit on Linux?
  2. I tried to install LVM(1.0.5 download from sistina), but it seems not working properly. After i created a vg and lv, whatever i do, it said something like 'VGDA not consistent with ...' oops, i cannot remember the exact error message. So, has anyone tested LVM on redhat AS2.1? If yes, would you like to share your experience?
  3. Now it seems RAC database is running. When i did the veify: lsnodes -v, it give out message like:(Both node give out the same message) [oracle_at_rac1 log]$ lsnodes -v CMCLI WARNING: CMInitContext: init ctx(0x804ad00)

rac1
rac2
CMCLI WARNING: CommonContextCleanup: ctx(0x804ad00)

CMCLI WARNING: CommonContextCleanup: closing comm port

        What does this mean?

        4. There is some trace file in $bdump dir, some of them has lines like: ORACLE_HOME = /home/oracle/9.2.0
System name: Linux

Node name: rac1
Release: 2.4.9-e.3smp
Version: #1 SMP Fri May 3 16:48:54 EDT 2002
Machine: i686

Instance name: rac1
Redo thread mounted by this instance: 0 <none> Oracle process number: 10
Unix process pid: 1947, image: oracle_at_rac1 (CKPT)
