Hmmmm... that's a tough question to answer these days. At one time, I would have recommended Fabian Pascal's second-last book in a heartbeat.
His last book, _Practical Issues..._ is excellent and very enlightening. Date's _Introduction to Database Systems_ is a comprehensive book and arguably the definitive text.
It might be helpful to know what your overall goals are and what your existing background is. You mention that you have dabbled with a database, but what do you want to do when you move beyond dabbling? Received on Tue Aug 08 2006 - 14:36:33 CEST
