- No it does not in a relational model, which is why positional were deprecated in SQL-92
- Hey, if you throwing out the basic SQL model, why not allow computed references, like pointer math in C, et al?
- The phrase "Standard Oracle" is an oxymoron. That product is a screwed up mess from a Standards virewpoint, a RDBMS viewpoint and an Relational viewpoint. Have you seen Rich Finkelstein's slide show about all of the marketing lies, frauds, etc. done by this company?
- Agreed. Which is one of the many reasons that (1) is useless in a language that claims to be orthogonal.
