NewtonScript, the language used to write applications for the Apple Newton, was also a prototype-based object-oriented language.

The defining characteristic of object-oriented programming is that your program operates by sending messages to objects. A good introduction to OOP, for anyone that's wondering what objects are really all about, can be found in the first chapter of Apple's (formerly NeXT's) book "The Objective-C Programming Language" at <http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/macosx/Cocoa/ObjectiveC/ObjC.pdf>.
