I know that it can be done badly. I was just reading about Oracle's object
cache support. Accessing objects in the client-side cache you must
explicitly manage the cache yourself. This includes pinning objects into the
cache and ensuring (not sure how) that you are using the current version of
the object in the database. Oracle's cache would probably still usable as a
strictly read-only cache of objects.
