Let me tell you gently why. Because you misrepresent your product to be a "database" or a database engine, and you and the other ignorant on his name James, obnoxiously pop up on comp.database newsgroups to misrepresent the reality and to shamelessly promote your products.

What you have is a persistence engine, therefore you should be posting on comp.lang.java where you might recommend your product to be a serious competitor for java.io.ObjectOutputStream

The groups comp.database.object and comp.databaase.theory are reserved for discussing database related issues.

If you want to find out what exactly is a database management system and why your product doesn't qualify as such, you need to go buy and serious database book , instead of wasting the comp.database.* discussions.

I'm sure that you do what I recommend (posting on comp.lang.java ) and competing against ObjectOutputStream default implementation, then I see no reason why anybody would look down upon you or your product.

But if you are continously promoting your ignorance and proclaim it as the real thing, well, I see every reason for you to be looked down upon.
