you could use a hierarchical model but this is not real good advice because
depending on
* number of parallel users
- number of transactions
- degree of concurrency
- keys that the information needs to be accessed with
- access paths on the data
- queries and quite a few more factors it is questionable whether you should use a database at all .. you could e.g. also use ..
- an OODB (which can handle trees and aggregation)
- or XML files plus some information in a RDB
- just XML files
- or flat files and no database
In order to make a solid design for your problem, a designer
needs to know far more on the dynamics than you have written
