Now anyone that have an idea what databases are about, will know what a SELECT COUNT entails, I/O wise.. and how critical table and index designs plays in optimising access and lowering I/O.
Can any other database, Open Source or commercial, come anywhere close to this? I doubt it.
And no, this nothing to do with hardware. The above was run against an old K-class HP-UX platform.
