Hi sybrand,
I cross checked all the paranthesis and syntax. Interestingly, if i were to edit the tnsnames.ora i face this problem. I tried launching netasst and deleted and recreated the alias and the problem disappeared.

Does it have some thing to do with not editing this file manually ???
