Hi Hari,
  just a little follow up on Indy's post, from your initial post it seems you don't know that you have to setup a managment server to use OEM if you don't want to use it standalone oem console. And the managment server is different from your Database. to learn How to setup managment server for OEM, i would suggest you go and check the oracle documentation at technet.oracle.com.

  Briefly, you need to setup oracle managment server repository and then start managment server, oracle always recommend using OEM with managment server not in a standalone mode.
