On trying to install Personal Oracle 8.0.3.0 on a new PC using Windws 2000
(NTFS), about two-thirds the way through the installation it aborts with the
error message "Unable to delete NT service for the SQL*Net V2 Listener".
Since this is a new PC, how could SQL*Net V2 Listener service be installed,
and if it was installed, how would one find it? I was able to load Personal
Oracle on my old PC (also using Windows 2000) without any problem.
The partial installation could not be uninstalled. Thinking the problem
could possibly be caused by ZoneAlarm, whcih sometimes causes installation
problems, I temporarily stopped ZoneAlarm from being invoked at startup,
deleted the Oracle subdirectories, rebooted the computer and tried
installing it again. Same problems.
Does anyone kmow what is causing the problem, and how to rectify it (remove
the NT service for the SQL*Net V2 Listener?)
On general principals, I've removed the Oracle subdirectories and all
unshared Oracle information from the registry.
Thanks,
Ted Thomas
