Paul,

I am no expert but I would suggest you use PostgreSQL for your website because it's FREE. There is a ton of documentation and lots of newsgroups to answer questions you may have.

To connect your dB to your website you'll need to learn a server-side language called PHP (it is similar to ASP). It will allow you to "connect" your webpages to your dB. Fairly easy to learn.

Here's what you'll need to do:

Download PHP from http://www.php.net
You will need to compile PHP with PostgreSQL support and then compile your Apache web server with PHP support.

Sounds easy right?
