Export file size exceeds OS maximum -- Oracle 7.1/HP-UX 10.20

The size of my full export file has gone beyond 2Gb, the maximum file size on my database server. I can compress the export as I run it and avoid and the file write error, but what do I do when I need to recover an object from the export file? If I try to uncompress it, I run into the max file size problem again.
