SQL Trace startup problem

Hello,

Does anyone know of a way to start Oracle's trace for one session from another one? I have it turned on for the instance but it is difficult for me to identify the point in the TKPROF file that I am interested in. I know one solution is to use dynamic sql and alter the session but this requires me to modify all of our packages. It seems to me that a dba would be able to modify another users session to turn tracing on and off - but apparently that is not feasible.

Any ideas????
