DUTIES
Integrate news story database with America Online, tickers, custom news
feeds, newsletters, partners (e.g. herring.com) , etc.
Develop templates for NEWS.COM
Develop incidental Java applets and Activex controls
World closely with CNET technology group as an advocate for news staff

CNET is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, visionary who enjoys exploiting new technology to achieve dramatic results. This experienced web developer will work closely with our advanced Technology group and Editorial department to develop dynamic, interactive, customized content for the Web.
Candidates must have a solid understanding of Internet technologies and a desire to keep up with new developments in the industry. Must be able to think creatively about how to take advantage of the technology, with a clear vision of the potential of the medium as well as an understanding of its constraints and limitations.
The ideal candidate would have 2+ years experience developing content software applications, with 1+ year of web development; an ability to communicate well with both Editorial and Technology types, and strong written skills.

Description: candidate will work closely with the CNET technology group and editorial department to develop interactive, database-driven content for the Web, explore new technologies and create cutting-edge Web applications.
Requirements: candidates must be versed in SQL, JavaScript/VBscript (or other scripting language), and CGI programming. Knowledge of Java and ActiveX preferred. Ability to work in a production and deadline-oriented environment is critical.
