Hi all,
I have the following task to be done with ORACLE on a Sun Solaris environment, and I would like to tap the brains of people who have used this product a lot. I would appreciate if someone would help me out with this.
- Design a database and use ORACLE as my main DB server.
- Implement an interface from a web-browser like Netscape which should be able to query the database, and be able to obtain results back on the web (including graphical).
- Possibly (in the long term), have capabilities for accessing data from distributed machines and integrate all the data together in my query process.
The data I would be using includes geographical locations, and this means that I would like to have some queries based on point and click from a given geographical map on the web as well.
Now to reach this objective, I am in touch with the ORACLE sales-rep and I was suggested to buy the following products:
- Oracle Workgroup Server , Oracle Web Server , Developer 2000
Can people who have used these products indicate what are the major differences between these two Servers and if it is worth it to go for the Enterprise Server? It would be nice if I get any other useful suggestions regarding this, so that I make the right choice in buying these products. And, do I need any other products to accomplish my task?
Thanks a lot..
