Since you can connect through Access to the database, it sounds like SQL*Net is working properly. Have you tried logging in using SQL*Plus to make sure?

If that works, you have an ODBC configuration problem. Make sure you are using 32-bit ODBC drivers and that the connect string is the same as the database alias entered in SQL*Net Easy Config.
