Bev...First of all your lucky the file is associated with the Rollback segments. However I'm not sure where you are as far as RECOVERABILITY goes. I see you've tryed some other options. I'm sure(HOPE) you made a backup prior so you'll be able to do this:

From the begining:

SQLDBA/SVRMGR/OEM> STARTUP NOMOUNT

                   ALTER DATABASE RBS OFFLINE DROP;
                   ALTER DATABASE OPEN;

Now.. Your ready
What do you want to do? Renaming a datafile is a 2 step process. 1) You have to copy the name at the O/S level. 2) RENAME within the database. RENAME only does one thing...change the name in the control file.
