SVRMGRM Sessions tab

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has a solution to runaway sessions on Oracle 7.3. The sessions tab in server manager lists the runaway sessions but I cannot disconnect the session. I have tried the disconnect option of the SESSION menu, tried to disconnect the user, and have issued the

ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION command.

Any clues why these commands are not reflected in the SVRMGR sessions window. The only way I can get them to clear is to shutdown/restart the DB.
