Oracle VLDB and Symmetrix Discs

Does anyone have practical experience of using EMC2 Symmetrix Discs with large Oracle Databases. I understand the performance available is excellent but how do we best configure our setup to take advantage of these facilities? Do we still use the standard UNIX LVM and implement disc striping, etc as before or is all this irrelevant now?
Can anyone pass on any handy hints & tips on best configurations with Oracle?
