Snapshots/refresh/frequency

I'm considering using the snapshot facility to replicate a portion of a table, but want to keep the tables sync'd up using a low value for the refresh interval. Does anyone have experience with how frequently the
replication can occur? i.e. every second?

Any practical information appreciated.
