[Q] Gradual degradation of server performance with Oracle 7.3.2?

Hi,

I'm new to both Oracle and Solaris management... but I have a serious problem!

I recently installed Oracle on a Sparc station. For the first 2 weeks everything seemed fine, but gradually I noticed that the workstation was becoming sluggish. Finally we couldnt hardly login normally using Common Desktop Env.

So I rebooted thinking that it was possible a swap space problem. However, the problem didnt go away. In fact it got so severe that any attempt to login on the CDE would hang (even without Oracle started) - although one could telnet and work on the machine fine.

It would seem that CDE requires some resource that Oracle (even when not started) has acquired. I have no idea what to look for - Can anyone help please!!!!!!!
