According to a very helpfull support tech at Oracle, running Forms Designer 4.5 on my Mac 7200/90 with 32 Meg RAM from a file server should be no problem. Unfortunately, this is not the case. If I have virtual memory turned on, regardless of the size, Forms Designer 4.5 causes the system to lockup while loading. It never gets past the logo screen. Installed locally, it runs fine. The symptom only appears when attempting to load the program from the file server.

After my initial network installation of the product I went through the necessary troubleshooting steps and found the bulletin on CompuServe that tells how to get Developer 2000 Ver 1.2 to run from a file server. I implemented all the steps prescribed in the bulletin and made a correction to the AppleScript (there was a typo in the bulletin) but Forms Designer 4.5 still hangs if virtual memory is turned on.

Anybody know what causes this and if there's a way around it?
