ReportWriter Question

Is there an equivalent to the Name_In function found in Forms for ReportWriter? Is it possible to dynamically name variables within a PL/SQL block in ReportWriter? I know all of this is possible in Forms and I'm hoping to save some people at work some trouble. If someone could get me some accurate information on this subject, I'd appreciate it...
