OO4O enables a client on a Windows machine to talk to any Oracle service as long as the service is reachable locally, that is on the same machine, or across SQL*Net. Of course, SQL*Net must be properly configured. OO4O behaves as the proxy for the client application so that the client application does not have to know anything about the Oracle service's location or how to reach it.
