I know you specified that you do not want to use ODBC. We had a similar requirement and could not find a product that fit. We ended up using Crystal Reports Pro 4.0. The nice thing about Crystal is that it can be called from Forms or VB. We use both. It does use ODBC, however. Performance is quite good (much better than Oracle Reports, especially starting up) and the memory requirements are SUBSTANTIALLY LESS!
