I get this problem using:

   pro*c v 2.0.6.0.0 (which comes with RDBMS v7.1.6)    under SCO Open Server 3.2v5.0.0 (plus a few SCO recommended patches)

I haven't yet tracked down the cause. A HP9000 is on it's way and I had hoped this would go away. Aaaarrrgh!
