Glenn is right, recovery will probably not work, especially if you have users who leave connections on overnight (and thus will be holding locks, uncommitted data, etc.)
When I used to work for Oracle, we called this a "meltdown backup". It's a mix of an impure hot and an impure cold backup scheme, with the hopes that things won't blow up.
