HI Bruce ,

Have u tried to connect via the NETTEST.EXE utility. ORA-6122 is an error returned by the SQL*Net TCP/IP driver ==>> your connect attempt went as far as recognizing that the t: stands for TCP/IP, loading the SQL*Net TCP/IP Win16 DLL and then returning an error.

When u say, u can ping the database do you mean you can ping the machine (at the IP level) or the Oracle database via some other Oracle application?

This appears to be a simple setup problem. Do the following :

(1) Check the TCP/IP vendor u chose during SQL*Net V1 install -- this
will be in you ORACLE.INI.
(2) Check the presence of a file called VSL.INI in your WINDOWS dir.
(4) If u had chosen WOLLONGONG PATHWAY ACCESS (DOS) as your vendor u
must have the following DLL under ORACLE_HOME\BIN -- MPATHWAY.DLL. If you had chosen WOLLONGONG PATHWAY ACCESS Runtime (WINSOCK) then look for MWINSOCK.DLL. Received on Thu Jan 04 1996 - 00:00:00 CET
