BUNKER HILL SOFTWARE INTRODUCES SCRIPTORIA TOOL SUITE Bunker Hill Software (BHS) of Pleasanton, California, announces the full-version release of Scriptoria(tm), its Access(tm)-to-Oracle7(tm) migration toolset. Introduced this week at DB Expo in San Francisco, Scriptoria comprises simple yet robust front- and back-end tools for building industrial strength Oracle applications from prototypes designed in Access -- with little or no SQL coding.
Scriptoria precisely replicates Microsoft(tm) Access tables and queries as SQL script with just a few mouse-clicks, maintaining all entity relationships including cascade update.
Access datatypes, indexes, counters, defaults, validation rules and even built-in functions, are instantly translated into their Oracle counterparts, with object names properly converted and SQL sequences and triggers automatically generated. Scriptoria also lets database developers and administrators create applications that retain the look-and-feel of Access while utilizing the powerful Oracle database engine.
From Access queries, Scriptoria creates skeleton Basic functions that pass generated native SQL directly to the Oracle server using ODBC or Oracle Objects. This allows the SQL query to be processed by the faster Oracle server (with only relevant data returned to the desktop) to achieve optimal network and database performance. Scriptoria also generates the skeleton Visual/Access Basic code for applications that maintain and manipulate Oracle tables and views.
