DLT = Digital Linear Tape, Quantum bought this from Digital Corp.

      uncompressed 10GB, and 20GB formats with 30GB by the end of the year
      Very fast 1.25MB/s or 1.5MB/s uncompressed for DLT 2000 and 4000 
      respectively.  They also have very high MTBF figures.

3480 and 3490 are IBM Tape formats. Several vendors provide solutions for these. IBM's new 3490 drive (called Magstar) is not generally available yet from what I've read (soon though). Magstar has 10GB capacity with transfer rates of 9MB/s.
