ODBC for Macintosh

Hello there,
we had a visual basic application on a PC, accessing an Oracle db using calls to the ODBC driver, and we wanted to make it operational on a Macintosh, as well.
We installed ODBC on the Mac, and although MSquery can access Oracle, our visual basic application fails.
Is it because the calls to the ODBC driver are not the same on the Mac?
