Yes, Hosts file is searched first then DNS in my configuration. If it finds server name in hosts, no DNS call on the network is made for server IP addr. It is still followed by a DNS call to resolve WINPC unless I put that in the hosts file too. If both are in Hosts, no DNS calls are made at all and I get proper connects to server

I'll try that tomorrow.

Just to clarify, I want to understand why a DNS call is made for WINPC and how to avoid it. I can shave 5 seconds off the connect sequence, from 15 secs down to 10.
