missing digits in matrix reports (Reports 2.0)

I am experiencing difficulties with Oracle Reports 2.0. In matrix reports, the first digit of the data in some of the columns gets ommited when running a larger report. The report displays completely on screen (PREVIEW), but when printed, the error occurs. This is a big problem because this error may go unnoticed (as it did for quite some time), possibly leading to incorrect decisions based on fawlty data.

The error always occured when printing with a Laserjet 4M printer driver. It disappeared when using the Laserjet 3 driver but occurs again when running larger reports, even with the Laserjet 3 driver. These symptoms seem to point to memory problems. Can anyone give a remedy for these symptoms?
