Mac SQL\*Net 1.5 <--> Oracle 7.1/SQL\*Net 1.2 on Sun problem

Hi!



I have been trying to configure SQL*NET on the Macintosh Quadra 630. I keep
getting error 6136 (error during connection handshake) when connecting to
the Oracle 7.1 server on the Sun Solaris 2.x. The connection request is
made because I can see a line in $ORACLE_HOME/tcp/log/oracle.log, but I
get this error. I am running 1.2 version of SQL*NET on the Sun Solaris, which
works with loopback connection. On the sun, I use the following connect
string to check the connection:



        sqlplus scott/tiger_at_t:cyclops:cros



This generated the following output:

Cyclops is the database name and cros is the SID. I am using 1.x connect
syntax as the above example shows.



TCPCTL STAT on the SUN shows the following summary:

Orasrv mapfile = /var/opt/oracle/oratab 





Oracle server was started on the Sun Solaris  by entering:



        tcpctl start debug=5 forkon dbaon



Note: the orasrv process dies when "forkon" is not specified on the
command line.





Backend log generates following message when tried to connect via SQL*DBA (I
have no SQL*PLUS client on the MAC; our ultimate goal is to use ODBC):
