I went to DBExpo in 92.
It is a huge and impressive conference but it is sufficiently general that I would only suggest it for:

(1) people just getting into client-server tools

         data databases, a great learning experience (2) people who are embarking on major shopping decisions,

         e.g. RDBMS, tools, report writers, etc.

Probably the perfect attendee would be someone who regularly has to advise people on purchase decisions, e.g. an internal consultant in a huge corporation who needs to advise many line IS groups.

that's my take.
