Help - oraperl for Oracle 7.1.4 install fails

I have been trying to install oraperl v2.4 for Oracle 7.1.4 on Sun
4.1.3. I keep getting a whole bunch of
undefined symbols. I tried to find some of them in the new oracle
libraries and added them in the make file
and tried to make. But it still fails. Even "make test" fails with
_debug undefined. We have perl v4.0.36.
Do I have the right versions?
I would appreciate any help.
