I was able to solve the Oraperl - Oracle 7.1 "fetch out of sequence" problem by simply re-building Oraperl with Oracle 7.0.16 libraries. This was on Solaris 2.3 with gcc 2.5.6. I did not change any source code (just the Makefile). It has been running for a week without any known problems.
